Race Information

The updated 2024 Runner’s Guide for the Dark Skies 100K, Full Moon 60K and Stargazer 30K is posted here. Please take a few minutes to review and let us know if you have any questions.

A list of runners who RSVP’d for the Dark Skies 100k is located here and for the Full Moon 60K is located here.

Final details will be emailed to all Stargazer 5K and Kids Mile participants.


RACE RULES

  • Mandatory virtual race briefing (date and time TBD)

  • BE AWESOME!

  • Race BIB must be worn at all times

  • Do not receive assistance outside of the checkpoints during the race

  • Carry your mandatory gear at all times

  • Do not receive help during your race unless you are going to withdraw or drop from your event

  • All withdrawals or drops must happen at a race check point

  • Runners are 100% responsible for the actions of their crews and pacers

  • Crews and spectators will only be in designated locations

  • Pacers will only be picked up at designated locations

  • Pacer must be with their runner at all times

  • Pacers will not mule gear

  • Run with a SMILE

GEAR

MANDATORY GEAR:

  • Carry at least 1.0 liters of water (hydration pack, hydration vest, waster bottle)

  • At least 300 calories

  • Headlight or torch (Dark Skies 100K)

  • Cell phone

RECOMMENDED GEAR:

  • GPS watch or GPS route on phone

  • Waterproof jacket

  • Long sleeve shirt

  • Watch cap or beanie

  • Mittens or gloves

  • Mylar blanket or emergency bivvy


Pacers will only be allowed for the Dark Skies 100K. Runners will be able to pick up their pacer at CP#7: Airport. Pacers can access CP#7 by parking lot at Old Spruce Brewing parking lot, then walking 1/2 up the trail to the CP#7. Pacers must have the mandatory gear with them when pacing and are welcome to all the support that the race check point offer.

Pacers will NOT be allowed for the 30K and 60K races.

PACERS


CREW ACCESS LOCATIONS

Due to the back country and remote nature of the trails, spectating will be very limited for the Wv Trail Fest. The two locations to support your runner will be at CP#7, Airport and at the Start/Finish area at the Snowshoe Ski Village.


DROP BAGS

  • Drop bags will be available for the 60k and 100k races.

  • The 60k will have a drop bag at CP#6: Shaver’s Fork.

  • The 100k will have three (3) drop bag locations: CP#4: FR235 & Back Mountain Road, CP#6 Shaver’s Fork, and CP#7: Airport.

  • Drop bags can not exceed 18” x 18” x 24”. Any drop bag exceeding this size will be left behind.

  • All drop bags must be labeled. Please include race distance, first initial and last name, bib number, and check point #.


PREGNANCY, REFUND, DEFERRAL, + TRANSFER POLICY

PREGNANCY POLICY.  LIFE HAPPENS. CONGRATULATIONS!  WE WILL GIVE A 100% DEFERRAL EITHER THE FOLLOWING YEAR OR YEAR AFTER.  EMAIL US AND WE WILL GET IT SORTED FOR YOU.

ALL HOSTED EVENTS GENERATE EXPENSES FROM THE MOMENT THE PLANNING AND EXECUTION BEGINS.  WE OFFER A GENEROUS 75% OF YOUR RACE FEE IF THE REQUEST IS MADE TWO (2) MONTHS PRIOR TO THE DATE OF YOUR SPECIFIC EVENT.  BETWEEN TWO MONTHS AND ONE MONTH BEFORE YOUR SPECIFIC EVENT DATE, WE OFFER A 50% REFUND OF YOUR REGISTRATION FEE.

DEFERRALS CAN BE MADE FROM ONE YEAR TO THE NEXT.  YOU CAN DEFER A EVENT TWICE. ALL DEFERRALS MUST BE MADE ONE (1) MONTH BEFORE YOUR SPECIFIC EVENT. OUTSIDE OF A MONTH WE WILL TRANSFER 80% OF THE REGISTRATION FEE TO NEXT YEARS RACE OR AN ATHLETIC EQUATION OF YOUR CHOICE IN THE COMING YEAR.   WITHIN ONE (1) MONTH PRIOR TO THE EVENT DATE, NO REFUNDS OR DEFERRALS CAN BE GIVEN.

TRANSFERRING FROM ONE RACE TO ANOTHER CAN BE MADE AS LONG AS IT IS DONE OUTSIDE OF ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE START OF YOUR RACE.  DUE TO THE NATURE AND TIMELINES OF EXPENDITURES, NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN IF SCALING DOWN IN DISTANCE.
