Welcome to the West Virginia Trail Festival (WvTF). WILD. TOUGH. FUN. This family-oriented annual trail running event will occur every May in the heart of Pocahontas County, WV!

& KIDS MILE DISTANCES

Other weekend activities will include a movie night, kids activities, a ride on the Cass Historic Railroad, awards ceremony, and Mother's Day breakfast. The goal is to create a unique one-of-a-kind experience that will highlight West Virginia’s beautiful and mountainous landscape while highlighting her unique history: West Virginia's beautiful State Parks, the beautiful Monongahela National Forest, Cass Historic Railroad, the Green Bank Observatory (GBO), the historic local fire towers, Snowshoe Ski Resort, and Pocahontas County.

12am Saturday May 11, 2024

The Dark Skies 100K is a point-to-point race that starts at the Seneca State Forest headquarters. Runners pass the Seneca fire tower in the first few miles before connecting to the Allegheny trail and eventually Greenbrier River trail leading to Cass, WV. Leaving Cass runners will continue to follow the Allegheny trail passing Green Bank Observatory (GBO) eventually reaching Hosterman and crossing the river on a swing bridge. From here runners follow a mix of fire roads and single-track trails that lead to Bald Knob at an elevation of 4,843 ft and incredible views from the observation deck before heading to the aid station set up at the base of the Bald Knob fire tower.

Runners have the option to climb the fire tower for more spectacular views. Leaving Bald Knob runners will follow a mix of single-track trails and fire roads around Snowshoe before reaching the finish at the Snowshoe Village. This amazing course has epic views, ~11,500 ft of elevation while summiting some of the highest peaks in WV!!  There is a GENEROUS cut-off time of 20 hours.

7AM Saturday May 11, 2024

The Full Moon 60K is a point-to-point race that starts in the Cass Scenic Railroad State Park and heads north on the Allegheny Trail to Hosterman, WV where runners will cross the river on a swing bridge. Runners follow a mix of fire roads and single-track trails that lead to Bald Knob at an elevation of 4,867 ft and incredible views from the observation deck before heading to the aid station set up at the base of the Bald Knob fire tower.

Runners have the option to climb the fire tower for more spectacular views.  Leaving Bald Knob runners will follow a mix of single-track trails and fire roads around Snowshoe that include the option to climb the Snowshoe fire tower before reaching the finish at the Snowshoe Village. This amazing course has epic views, 2 fire towers, ~7,400 ft of elevation gain, while summiting some of the highest peaks in WV!! There is a GENEROUS cut-off time of 13 hours.

10AM Saturday May 11, 2024

The Stargazer 30K starts and finishes in Snowshoe village. The course is a mix of single-track trails and fire roads on Snowshoe and has ~3,800 feet of elevation gain. There is a GENEROUS cut-off time of 10 hours!

6PM Friday May 10, 2024

The Twilight 5k starts and finishes at Snowshoe village.  The course utilizes the bike trails on the resort and challenges runners with a variety of terrain and ~700 ft of elevation gain.

Keep the kids busy while mom or dad are racing! The kids mile will start and end at Snowshoe Village. All participants will receivea t-shirt and finisher medal.
